Startup Weekend: From idea to launch in three days

Pitch idea. Form team. Launch company. From idea to launch in just three days.

Colorado State University’s College of Business and the Institute for Entrepreneurship invite entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs from all departments at the university and the greater Fort Collins community to participate in the inaugural Fort Collins Startup Weekend Feb. 24-26,  on campus.in Rockwell Hall, 501 W. Laurel St.

Startup Weekend will help participants launch a creative business, product, or service idea by implementing the Lean Startup process. It starts by allowing anyone to pitch ideas, form teams around the top ideas, research their customers, and work as teams to build a prototype that demonstrates the potential of their business. The event culminates in a pitch competition where teams present their business and demonstrate their prototype to a panel of experienced entrepreneurs.

In just 54 hours, participants will learn how to create a real company and meet experienced mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors who are ready to help them get started.

Sunday night pitch event

On Sunday, Feb. 26, Startup Weekend participants will highlight their progress, innovation, and creativity in a “Shark Tank”-style pitch to three seasoned entrepreneurs. The judges will award the best two pitches with prizes that include in-kind donations from event sponsors and partners.

No technology skills required

Any CSU student or community member interested in startups, launching a business, entrepreneurship, or creative problem solving is encouraged to register. Startup Weekend involves teamwork, creativity, and determination. External experts with business and technical experience will help mentor teams.
