The entire Colorado State University and Fort Collins community is invited to the annual Interfaith Friendsgiving Celebration Dec. 5, 6-8 p.m., at Everyday Joe’s Coffee House, 144 S. Mason St.

“We hope everyone can join us once again as we gather together across traditions, faiths and beliefs for delicious food and conversation,” said Elizabeth Sink, senior instructor in the Department of Communications Studies at CSU and one of the organizers of the event. “To make this invitation as inclusive as possible, we have moved our date to December and will enjoy a menu that expands outside the bounds of a traditional Thanksgiving celebration.”

Every year, the Friendsgiving meal is completely kosher, prepared by CSU students in the kitchen of Hillel House and served at Everyday Joe’s. This year’s menu will also include several culturally diverse meatless dishes over rice with vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options.

While enjoying the meal and companionship, attendees may also donate non-perishable foods for Rams Against Hunger and cash donations for the Interfaith Solidarity and Accompaniment Coalition, whose mission is to provide sanctuaries of welcome, refuge, healing and accompaniment for all immigrants who feel threatened.

Additionally, any leftover food from the celebration will be donated to the Fort Collins Mission in Old Town.

Friendsgiving 2019 is co-hosted by CSU’s Multifaith and Belief Student Council, CSU Hillel and Lutheran Campus Ministry, with generous support from Everyday Joe’s Coffeehouse, The Fort Collins Interfaith Council, and Coca-Cola. Crispy Watkins & The Crack Willows will provide the gift of music for the event.
