Workshop on science communication to be held Oct. 19

American Geophysical Union Sharing ScienceScientists who want to more effectively communicate their research in ways that resonate with the general public and policymakers can learn more at a communications workshop hosted by the Warner College of Natural Resources. The free workshop, presented by the American Geophysical Union, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 19, 12:30- 5 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Room 312. Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m.

At this interactive workshop, you will learn how to communicate science to people in your community and policymakers in a relevant, engaging, and memorable way. You will learn how to identify the right group for you to reach out to, how to create an effective message about your research, and how to tailor your presentation for a specific audience. You will also learn active listening skills, have the chance to practice public speaking, and receive feedback from communication experts and your peers.

Scientists from all disciplines with all levels of communications experience are welcome. Registration is required; seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
