Out on the plains of Colorado, the CSU Northeast Regional Engagement Center is busy bringing campus to the students. A recent example came on Friday, July 22, when the Center held an ice cream send-off for all students heading to campus in the fall. This event was the first, of what the Center hopes will become an annual event.

The send-off was held for all first year, transfer and current students at CSU, as well as  local Alumni in the area. Staff from campus, were present to mingle with students, provide information and handed out plenty of CSU swag for attendees to take home.

Current students provided incoming students with insights on how to be successful at CSU; while transfer students compared their experiences with those currently attending CSU. Alumni reminisced about their time on campus and the many changes that they have seen since they were college students.

Coming back to Colorado

Students in attendance had majors ranging from Computer Science to Mechanical Engineering to Biochemistry. One student, who grew up in Colorado but chose to attend a small school in Washington, will now be transferring to Colorado State in the fall. While he enjoyed Washington, saying it is a great place to visit, but Colorado is home and he’s ready to get back to his roots.

Each student was able to connect with a staff member from Ram Welcome, Alumni Relations, or the College of Agricultural Sciences. While some first year students seemed nervous about heading to Fort Collins, by the end of the afternoon they were excited to begin their unique journeys at CSU. All students, alumni, and staff left the event with some CSU giveaways and a sense of excitement about the new generation of Rams.

Application and scholarship days for future Rams

In the coming year, the Northeast Regional Engagement Center will support other students by hosting application and scholarship days. The Center will assist as many students as possible with their application to Colorado State University. Scholarships applications can overwhelm students, so to help overcome this, the Center will partner with schools in the region and their scholarship committees to aid students in the filling out and submitting applications.

Welcome to the Ram Family, northeastern Colorado students!
