Matt DeAngelis, an employee of the Student Recreation Center, has won CSU’s Everyday Hero award.
DeAngelis, who was nominated by Rob Patchett, has worked in the Rec Center for over five years and performs daily diagnostics and maintenance of more than 300 pieces of strength and fitness equipment.
DeAngelis inspects all mechanical, electrical and data components of the equipment to ensure the safety of all Rec Center equipment users. He is also credited with effectively creating and maintaining collaborative, positive relationships with service and program providers of the fitness property.
DeAngelis used to visit the Rec Center with his father, who at the time attended CSU. This helped to develop his passion for the CSU community and desire to work with the student body.
When informed of his nomination of the award, DeAngelis said he was thrilled. He is passionate about his job and the commitment that the Rec Center has to student health and wellness.
DeAngelis said he enjoys cheering on the Colorado Rockies, Colorado Avalanche and, of course, the Colorado State Rams, as well as participating in sports. In his spare time, he likes to work on cars.
