Life is beautiful in New York City for Marie Claire intern

lauren-fudaleLauren Fudale has a summer internship that many can only dream about. The apparel and merchandising major is interning in New York City with fashion magazine Marie Claire.

“It’s Marie Claire, and that’s what I love most,” said Fudale. “One day I am capturing inspiration from the editors, crafting inspiration boards, and calling in products for stories. The next day I will attend product launch events on behalf of the magazine, and brainstorm titles for different issues.”

Marie Claire is a magazine for women, featuring sections in fashion, beauty, health, and work. The magazine is also a member of the Hearst Corporation, which includes other publications such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Harper’s Bazaar, and many more.

Fudale spends most of her time working with the beauty editors and learning about all aspects of the business.

“My favorite part by far is watching the entire process result in a published page for a particular issue,” she said. “You wouldn’t believe how much time and effort goes into a single page for the magazine until you are a part of it.”

Fudale was born and raised in Boulder, doing what many Colorado girls love to do: running, hiking, attending concerts, and just being outside. She says moving from Colorado to New York City has been an adjustment. Despite the change, she plans to stay and start her career in NYC.

“Colorado State University has prepared me for this internship in every way. I am confident that this is the industry I belong in,” she said. “I look forward to seeking full-time employment, and keeping the great connections I have made along the way at Marie Claire magazine and CSU.”

Fudale is finishing up her degree with her internship this summer, and she will also graduate from CSU with a minor in business.

“I’m beyond excited for all the opportunities that lie ahead in The Big Apple,” said Fudale.
