The Lagoon Summer Concert Series that takes place on the west lawn of the Lory Student Center will continue this Wednesday, June 22, with Bonnie & the Clydes. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and will blow the audience away with a unique blend of country infused with modern rock.

Bonnie & the Clydes is led by frontwoman Bonnie Sims, who received her musical genes from her father, a career musician in Texas. From a young age, she fell in love with the guitar and mandolin and continued her musical journey into her young adulthood at South Plains College. During her college years, she was named Best Female Vocalist and Best Female Instrumentalist.

Sims is joined onstage with lead guitarist Taylor Sims, drummer Jake Coffin, pedal steel guitarist Glenn Taylor and bassist Caleb Roberts – or as they like to refer to themselves: “The Clydes.”

In the six years since the band was founded, they have turned out three studio albums and gained a remarkable following across Colorado and beyond. In 2013 and 2014, the quintet’s harmonies, solos and original songwriting earned them the “Best Country Band” award from the Denver Westword’s Yearly “Best Of” poll.

Little Kids Rock band Downey Sisters will warm up the stage for Bonnie & the Clydes. The evening will also feature local food trucks: The Taco Stop, Gunter’s Bavarian Grill, Pizza Casbah, Ba-Nom-a-Nom and the Human Bean Coffee Truck.

All Lagoon concerts are free and open to the public. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and park in the Lory Student Center or Moby Arena lots.
