Jake Gill brings Nashville country music to Lagoon July 18

The Lagoon Summer Concert Series welcomes country artist Jake Gill, who was a third-round finalist on NBC’s “The Voice,” on Wednesday, July 18. The concert will take place on the west lawn of the Lory Student Center and runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m.Country Singer Jake Gill

Originally from Kansas, Gill remembers spending time with his grandfather working on the family farm and listening to country music together. Although he always had a passion for music, he went to school to become a chiropractor and even opened his own office in Hutchinson, Kansas. He performed intermittently around the area at many local churches before deciding to jump head-first into a musical career.

His music is best described as a red dirt, rock fusion. Gill’s influences arise from many artists, most recently singers like Eric Church, Josh Thompson and Brantley Gilbert. A few of his songs will bring a hint of Kenny Chesney to the forefront.

The evening will also feature local food trucks: The Rollin’ Stone Wood Fired Pizzeria, Wing Shack, The Goodness Truck, The Human Bean Coffee Truck and A-Maize’n Kettle Corn.

All Lagoon concerts are free and open to the public. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and park in the Lory Student Center or Moby Arena lots.
