In memory: Norman Allen Evans

Norman Allen Evans, PhD, 95, died January 25 at his home in Fort Collins. Dr. Evans’ distinguished career in agricultural engineering spanned more than 40 years. He retired as professor emeritus, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at Colorado State University. He was a director of the Colorado Water Research Institute and member of the first Colorado Water Quality Control Commission. He also served on the Fort Collins Water Board and the Poudre Landmarks Foundation.

Norm was born in Lead, SD, on December 3, 1922, to Allen C. and Claire (Doscher) Evans. He and his wife Jean were married in Spearfish, South Dakota, in December, 1943. Their family of four children, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren was the focus of their 74 years of marriage. During World War II Norm served in the Army.

For many years Norm was an elder at First Christian Church and elder emeritus of Good Shepherd Chapel. He was a devout believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, deeply loved as a man who lived his faith.

Norm is survived by his wife, Jean; his sons Doug, Garth and Matthew; as well as his grandchildren Jared Crecelius, Kara Lord, Leah McGaw and Sondra Evans. His beloved daughter, Elizabeth Evans Crecelius, died in 2012.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 31 at Drake Road Christian Church in Fort Collins, with Pastor John Dubler officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, South Dakota, on February 2. Please leave the family a condolence at www.VesseyFuneralService.com.
