In memory: Manny “Butch” Cunard

Manny “Butch” Cunard, 69, a resident of Attleboro, Mass., and former resident of Warren, R.I., died Wednesday, March  28, 2018, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.

He is survived by Donna, his wife of 48 years; two daughters, Sarah Chaney of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Elisabeth Mathews of Fredericksburg, Va.; and three grandchildren, Brianna, Milan and Remington. He is also survived by his sisters, Evie Lavey and Bunny Laureanno, both of Bristol, R.I.

Manny worked for many years in higher education as a student activities director, including ten years at Colorado State University, from 1984-1994, as director of the Lory Student Center. Later, he served as executive director of a campus-related professional association. He was also involved with Habitat for Humanity, first as a volunteer, then as board member, and then, in his last affiliation, as executive director of the Old Colony Habitat for Humanity chapter. He also served as president of the Mansfield, Mass., Rotary Club. He was a car enthusiast, with his final British car project being completed with the generous help and support of fellow car enthusiasts from all over New England.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 4, at St. Mary of the Bay Church in Warren, Rhode Island, followed by a celebratory gathering at Jacky’s Galaxie in Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to http://oldcolonyhabitat.org/donate.
