In Memory: Keith Ickes

Keith-Ickes-1449767192Keith E. Ickes, 67, passed away on December 8, 2015, in the company of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Keith was born on February 5 – a birthday shared with both his parents – 1948 in Dayton, Ohio, to LeRoy and Faye Ickes. He married Beverley Wright in 1971, and was father to sons Nathan and Andrew.

Keith spent his career in higher education and government administration, working at Indiana University, Cornell University, Colorado State University, Boulder County, and the University of Idaho. Well-liked and respected by his colleagues, Keith was known for his unwavering integrity, financial acumen, Seussian inspirations, and dedication to those these institutions serve. Keith enthusiastically shared with family and friends his love of the outdoors, hiking and bowhunting in the Comanche Peak Wilderness, architecture and design, woodworking, and restoration of vintage British sports cars.

He was deeply committed to family life and activities with his sons. Keith is survived by his loving wife, Beverley, sons Nathan and Andrew (Tracy) Ickes, his mother Faye, and siblings Gregory (Holly) Ickes, David (Cindy) Ickes, and Michele (Jack) Edelblute. He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy.

A visitation was held at Allnutt Drake Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 13 and a memorial service held at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Collins, on Monday, Dec. 14.
