In memory: Jimmy C. Tavarez

Jimmy Tavarez, age 69, passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, 2021.

Jimmy was a Ft. Collins native born March 19, 1951 to Manuel and Hermelinda Tavarez. Jimmy was a kind and generous son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Jimmy loved watching all his Colorado teams play, especially the Denver Broncos and CSU Rams. Jimmy also loved watching movies on his big screen tv, spending time with his friends and family, and hosting cookouts at his home. Jimmy will always be remembered as having a memorable and contagious laugh and a huge heart.

He graduated in 1971 from Ft Collins High School and worked many years at Steele’s Market and Colorado State University. In his younger years, he was an active volunteer at Holy Family Church in Ft Collins, and volunteered with Cinco De Mayo festivities.

Jimmy is survived by his sister, Gloria Tavarez-Snider (Bill); twin brother, Joe Tavarez; Manuel Tavarez Jr (Kathi) three generations of nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Please join us in celebrating Jimmy’s life at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Holy Family Church, Ft Collins. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Due to covid, a reception following the mass will not follow.
