In memory: Ernest A. Salas

Ernest A. Salas was born November 20, 1959, and passed away on March 24, at the age of 58.

He was born in Uvalde, Texas, to Salvador R. Salas and Maria Alvarez.

He was a graduate of Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins.

He worked for Teleyne Water Pik for approximately 17 years. He then worked at the CSU Veterinary Hospital as a materials handler for 14 years.

Ernest was a loving, caring son who was his mother’s caretaker for many years. He was known as a loving, fun soul and a man with a giving and compassionate heart that always put others before him. He loved all his nieces and nephews and they all loved him. He had a special gift with animals, especially dogs and you could see a dog’s tail wagging as soon as Ernest walked in the room. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and co-worker. He will be missed by everyone who crossed paths with him. His beautiful smile will be embedded in our hearts forever. Absent from body, Present with the Lord.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bertha A. Chapa; and brother, Juan A. Salas. He is survived by brothers, Henry A. Salas (Teresa), Andy Salas (Luci), Richard A. Salas (Beatrice), Sam A. Salas (Connie Ohlson), Daniel A. Salas; and sister, Dora Salas-Vigil (Andrew). He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
