The 1491s

The 1491s are coming to CSU for the Homecoming Comedy Show on Oct. 2.

Enjoy some laughs at Colorado State University’s Homecoming Comedy Show with The 1491s, a Native American sketch comedy group popular on YouTube and featured on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and TEDx Talks.

The 1491s are performing Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lory Student Center Theatre. Tickets are free for students and $5 for the community.

With sold-out performances across the country, The 1491s have been earning fans with their satirical and absurd style of comedy. The group has more than 50,000 subscribers on YouTube and more than 150 videos featuring comedy sketches on Native American culture.

In addition to their YouTube stardom, The 1491s share their humor through live performances, panels, discussions and other events. They have partnered with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Company and New Native Theater to produce Between Two Knees for the stage.

The group’s name is a reference to the last year before the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas.
