To introduce students to research and innovation at Colorado State University, the Office of the Vice President for Research presents the first CSU Discovery Week[1], April 17-25.

“Discovery Week is a chance to see and experience all the incredible science and artistry that take place on our campus every day,” said Ellen Fisher, senior faculty advisor for research. “Think of it as a ‘getting to know you’ week, for students to get to know their campus a little better ­beyond the classroom.”

Get your passport

Discovery Week will kick off at the Celebrate Undergraduate Research and Creativity[2] (CURC) showcase April 17, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m, in the Lory Student Center Ballroom. Discovery Week’s signature activity will be a “Passport to Discovery[3],” a physical booklet students can pick up at a booth outside CURC. The passport is a guided tour of labs, studios and classrooms all over CSU’s campus.

At each stop, collect a sticker for the passport, as well as prizes. Turn in your passport April 25 at the CURC awards ceremony; those who visit every passport stop will be entered for a chance to win one of five grand prizes: two GoPros, two iPad Airs and a 360-degree camera.

Bring your research to class

In addition to the passport, the week will feature “Bring Your Research to Class Day,” in which professors and instructors will spend a few minutes sharing their academic pursuits outside the classroom.
