Employee Appreciation Board recognizes Early Childhood Center staff

The CSU Employee Appreciation Board (EAB) recently visited with and provided lunch for the Early Childhood Center (ECC), to honor an exemplary team that goes above and beyond on a daily basis.

Lise Youngblade, head of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, and Karen Rattenborg, ECC executive director, nominated the team for living out the three-fold mission of the center with enthusiasm. This combined focus serves the campus community by allowing CSU faculty, staff, and students to work and learn knowing that their children are in an optimal learning environment. Not only is the staff serving families with children in the center, but they are training the next generation of early childhood educators based on the Reggio Emilia approach.

The staff goes above and beyond even outside of the learning environment. When a tragedy struck one of the families of the center, the staff came together to compile a photo album for the family, and donated it in memory of the child. Funds raised from the campaign were later used to enhance the ECC based on what the child loved. The fundraising was a way to channel grief and honor the child and her family, while providing a tangible benefit to future children enrolled in the ECC. It’s acts like these that show the care, dedication, and strength of the ECC team.

Recognition for hard work

The CSU Employee Appreciation Board, originally formed in 1968, recognizes employees for their hard work and promotes community spirit among CSU faculty and staff through events such as breakfasts, luncheons and ice cream socials. Each month, the Board also hosts a prize drawing for all faculty and staff who submit an entry form, including a coveted reserved parking space for a full month.

The board meets monthly during the academic year to discuss and plan employee recognition events, as well as to help promote university events. One of the main objectives of the board is the monthly recognition of a group, entity or college.
