CSU online graduates from around the nation visit campus for first time

Students in Colorado State University’s online and distance programs live all around the country and world. This semester’s graduates come from 39 states including Colorado. Others live as far away as Canada, China, Germany and the United Kingdom.

“Access to a quality, CSU education, regardless of where you live is at the heart of our mission,” said Amy Smith, Senior Director of Colorado State University Online.

A number of the graduates walked in commencement ceremonies this past weekend, and for some, it was the first time they set foot on the campus of the institution that is now their alma mater. Graduates from Maryland, Massachusetts, Indiana, South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee traveled thousands of miles to attend the weekend’s events.

In addition to the commencement ceremonies, online and distance students were invited to attend a graduation brunch sponsored by CSU Online held at Canvas Stadium.

“Seeing our students celebrating their hard work with family and friends is so rewarding,” Smith said. “The brunch gave them the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff and classmates face-to-face.”

More than 90

CSU Online offers more than 90 degree, certificate and training programs online or at other locations around Colorado. This fall, graduates earned degrees from 43 of those programs, including Ph.D.’s in systems engineering and higher education leadership, master’s degrees in tourism management and natural resources, and bachelor’s degrees in psychology and economics.
