[1]The CSU men’s basketball team will look to add another chapter to a storybook season tonight in the second round of the National Invitation tournament.

The Rams (24-11) face Cal State Bakersfield (23-9) at 9:15 tonight at Moby Arena, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals and a chance to reach the NIT semifinals in New York City. ESPN2 will provide coverage nationally.

CSU beat College of Charleston 81-74 in the first round, while Bakersfield upset top-seeded California. The winner of tonight’s game faces the winner of the Akron-Texas Arlington matchup Wednesday night. If CSU wins tonight the quarterfinal game would be at Moby.

Seniors leading the way

The Rams, winners of 13 of their past 16 games, once again take the floor with just seven scholarship players. They are led by senior guard Gian Clavell, the Mountain West Conference’s leading scorer and player of the year, and senior forward Emmanuel Omogbo, a first-team all-conference pick who set a school record this season with 20 double-doubles.

Coach Larry Eustachy, the Mountain West coach of the year, will be looking to lead the Rams to consecutive postseason wins for the first time since 1999 when they won the first two rounds of the NIT before losing.

Tickets on sale!

Tickets are on sale at the McGraw Athletic Center ticket office on the west side of Moby Arena, by phone (800-491-7267) or online[2] until 5 p.m. Tickets will also be available on the north concourse of Moby beginning at 7:30; doors open at 8.

Student tickets are $4; student must present a valid student idea when picking up their ticket. Parking in the lot west of Moby is $10 – cash only.

Season ticket holders can have their tickets placed at will call, although they may have to wait in line prior to the game. Choosing “print at home” or mobile delivery saves waiting in line. Photo ID will be required for will call ticket pickup.

CSU women fall in second round

The CSU women’s basketball team saw its 2016-17 season end Sunday in a heartbreaking 58-57 loss to UC Davis in the second round of the Women’s NIT.

The Rams (25-11) had a chance to win but a last-second shot by senior Ellen Nystrom fell off the rim.

The loss ended the remarkable careers of seniors Nystrom (18 points) and Elin Gustavvson (12 points, 12 rebounds), who led the Rams to four consecutive Mountain West titles, three WNIT berths and a spot in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. They are the only players – male or female – in school or conference history to lead their team to four consecutive league titles.
