At a university known for its outstanding faculty members, two Colorado State University professors have earned a significant distinction. Associate Professor Shawn Archibeque and Professor Daryl Tatum of CSU’s Department of Animal Sciences have been listed among the top 20 best animal sciences instructors in the United States by VetTechColleges.com.

Archibeque is cited by the ranking for his work in “educational and professional organizations” where he has served as director-at-large and a member of Board of Directors of the American Society of Animal Science.

Tatum is described in the ranking as “very active in educating both his students and colleagues,” and some of his many awards are listed, including his Young Scientist Award from the American Society of Animal Science and his Educator’s Award from the National Association of Meat Purveyors.

High-caliber faculty

“This recognition testifies to the high-caliber of faculty members in our department,” said Department of Animal Sciences Head Kevin Pond. “Both Professor Archibeque and Professor Tatum not only conduct cutting-edge research, but they translate that research for students who will take what they have learned and apply their knowledge in the field.”
