CSU AD: Stadium project on time, on budget

On time. On budget.

Joe Parker, CSU’s director of athletics, emphasized those points Friday at an event celebrating an anonymous $20 million gift that will name the field at the new multi-purpose on-campus stadium for legendary Rams football coach Sonny Lubick.

Parker said construction of the $220 million stadium, which began in the fall, is on schedule to be completed in time for the 2017 home opener against Abilene Christian. Parker said the stadium will be fully enclosed by February 2017, which will leave ample time to complete interior construction and landscaping.

Rams building the future

The project includes 80,000 square feet of academic space and a new alumni welcome center. More than a dozen CSU alumni are employed by ICON and Mortenson on the stadium project along with several construction management and other undergraduates doing internships. Parker added that the project is on budget, and that private fundraising and sales of premium seating are going well.
