Community invited to attend Urban Lab open house

The UniverCity Urban Lab, an organization that empowers the Fort Collins community to create and activate places that foster vibrant connections, is hosting its annual open house event at the old Mountain View Tire Shop in Old Town on Friday, Dec. 4.

glowing balloonThe event will take place during the December First Friday Art Walk at 221 E. Mountain Ave. in Old Town Fort Collins, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. All community members are encouraged to stop by and interactively explore placemaking with projections of current projects, community-sourced ideas and drawing, and the unveiling of Fort Collins’ first parklet. Also, check out what the city’s planning staff has been up to as they continue their public outreach effort to update the Downtown Plan. Food will be available, served by Umami food truck.

The UniverCity Urban Lab is a catalyst organization dedicated to generating opportunities and implementing projects that support healthy, dynamic urban environments. Established in the summer of 2013 and based in Fort Collins, the Urban Lab is a cooperative venture between Colorado State University, the City of Fort Collins, the Downtown Development Authority, professional designers, real estate developers, businesses and private citizens. Their research and initiatives aim to provide opportunities for placemakers that demonstrate the vitality of the Fort Collins community through the integration of the public, private and educational communities and the Fort Collins city government.
