Applications for Citizens’ Police Academy close Friday

Applications are still being accepted for the Citizens’ Police Academy, which begins Jan. 18. The deadline is Friday, Dec. 15.

The academy is sponsored by the Colorado State University Police Department, the Division of Student Affairs and the CSU Bookstore and is the  twelfth annual Citizen’s Police Academy offered on campus.

CSUPD encourages the CSU community to take part in this unique experience. This academy does not require any previous knowledge of law enforcement or any special physical abilities.

The academy will conduct 15 classes and conclude with graduation on Thursday, April 26.  Classes will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. every Thursday of the spring semester, excluding Spring Break. Classes will take place in the CSUPD Training Room at Green Hall and other locations across campus. There will be two Saturday class so students can participate in police related training.

Fifteen students and ten faculty or staff members will be admitted into the academy. Student applicants must have a 2.5 or above GPA. All applicants must be free of felony and misdemeanor convictions and must agree to a limited background investigation.
