Adventures in data analysis with ISTeC

istec-data595ISTeC, the Information Science and Technology Center at CSU, invites the campus community to spend the afternoon of Dec. 5 catching up on recent advances in analytical techniques regarding big data, network data and structurally complex data.

The ISTeC Data Analysis Symposium starts at 11 a.m. with a buffet lunch in the Morgan Library Event Hall. After welcoming remarks by ISTeC Director Edwin Chong, Hari Iyer of the National Institutes of Standards Technology will deliver the keynote on “Analysis of Heterogeneous Data From Fingerprint Images.”

From 12:30 to 3 p.m., CSU faculty from various departments will take participants on a data adventure using case studies in various fields.

Featured speakers will be David Randall, Atmospheric Science; Mark Simmons, Biology; Haonan Wang, Statistics; Asa Ben-Hur, Computer Science; Susan van den Heever, Atmospheric Science; Imme Ebert-Uphoff, Electrical and Computer Engineering; Michael Kirby, Mathematics; Stephen Hayne, Computer Information Systems; and Ronald Tjalkens, Environmental & Radiological Health Sciences.

The symposium is free and open to the entire campus community; registration is required.
