CSU and the Fort Collins community sent Hughes Stadium into retirement Saturday night with a party for the ages.

More than 29,000 fans braved chilly temperatures to see the Rams take on New Mexico in the 262nd and final game played at Hughes – CSU’s home since 1968. The night included a special halftime performance by the CSU Marching Band, the introduction of more than 100 former players and coaches, and a closing ceremony that featured prominent CSU figures, past and present, turning out the lights one last time.

The Rams did their part to set the festive mood, rolling to a 49-31 win over the Lobos to improve to 6-5 and become bowl-eligible for the fourth consecutive season. The Rams will learn their postseason destination Dec. 4; they close the regular season Nov. 26 at San Diego State.

The Rams move into their new on-campus stadium in September.
