Lake St parking, bike routes reconfigured Aug. 8

Some non-CSU parking spaces will be removed and pedestrian and bike routes will be reconfigured along the north side of Lake Street  between Whitcomb Street and Center Avenue starting Saturday, Aug. 8. The street will be closed all day Satruday for repainting, and will reopen by Monday, Aug. 10. The reconfiguration will impact about 25 city parking spaces, which are not maintained by the university or under university parking requirements. These spaces are directly north of the Aggie Village North construction site. Bike and pedestrian routes also will be reconfigured to the north side of Lake Street. These changes are to enhance bike and pedestrian safety.

East Drive closed at Lake Street through Wednesday, August 5

A small section of East Drive will be closed from Lake Street north to the Pathology Building until the end of the day Wednesday, August 5. Local access to buildings, including Pathology and the Painter Center, is open from the north on East Drive, but is not accessible from the south. East and west traffic on Lake Street remains open, but reduced to one lane with flaggers. Expect delays, and consider using alternate routes. This closure allows the city to work on replacing a sewer line at the intersection. Signs noting detour routes will be posted.

Updated: Lake, Pitkin routes impacted

Updated 12:15 p.m. July 24 Traffic flaggers will be on Pitkin Street from Meridian Avenue east to the Visual Arts Building starting Monday, July 27 through August 7 to accommodate utility work. Both east and west traffic will be allowed to pass, but expect delays. Original post (July 17) On Monday, July 20, sidewalks on Lake and Pitkin streets around the construction fence for the stadium site will be shifted into the construction fence zone. On Lake Street, the construction fence will come out onto the street, and a protected walkway on Lake Street will be created to allow safe movement for pedestrians and bike riders. On Lake Street adjacent to the Aggie Village site, the construction fence also will be expanded over the sidewalks. Two lanes for campus traffic will remain. These shifts will remove street parking along this section of Lake Street on the north side of the street between Whitcomb Street and the arboretum, and on both sides of Lake between Whitcomb and Center. Parking along this section of Lake Street has not required a university permit. Utility work also will be performed on Pitkin Street near the Visual Arts building.

Updated: Traffic flaggers on Lake Street through August 20

Updated August 14 Both lanes of Lake Street will be open to east/west traffic on Thursday, August 20   Original post (July 17) Lake Street traffic will be delayed for utility work from Wednesday, July 22-Friday, July 31. Traffic will be reduced to one lane between East Drive east to the railroad tracks, with flaggers on site from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Expect delays, and consider using alternate routes. Two lanes offering traffic flow east and west will be open during the evenings, from 7 p.m.-7 a.m.

Section of Lake Street to close for duration of week

A section of Lake Street will be closed unexpectedly starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, to accommodate repairs to a sewer line. Lake will be closed just east of Meridian, immediately past the entrance into parking lot #520, to the intersection of Center and Lake street. The sidewalk on the south side of Lake also will be closed. The closure is anticipated to end the evening of Friday, March 13.
