SoGES Global Challenges Research Teams and Resident Fellows

SOGES-GlobeThe School of Global Environmental Sustainability (SoGES) is announcing a request for proposals for their 2015-16 Global Challenges Research Teams (GCRTs) and Resident Fellows.

The School is seeking GCRT proposals that will build interdisciplinary cross campus collaborations, build research strengths for pressing global to regional environmental issues, and are highly innovative and/or enterprising in nature. SoGES seeks proposals that advance research in sustainability science through integration of environmental, societal and economic knowledge and a team-based, creative, experiential approach to real-world problem solving. The successful proposals will provide strategies to sustain their initiatives and research beyond the initial SoGES investment. Selected Global Challenge Research Teams bring together the best researchers across colleges and disciplines at CSU to improve understanding of grand challenges in environmental sustainability.

Resident Fellows

SoGES is also seeking applications for Resident Fellows for 2015-16 from a broad range of disciplines including the biological and physical sciences, the social sciences and engineering fields related to sustainability. This Fellowship targets CSU Faculty and Researchers (at the Ph.D. level) whose scholarly contributions to sustainability will be significantly enhanced. Individuals engaged in interdisciplinary research are particularly encouraged to apply. SoGES will expect a substantial level of involvement with SoGES activities and events.

The School is seeking candidates who engage in scholarly, creative research and problem solving consistent with the mission and six research focal areas of the School. These positions provide unique opportunities to accelerate progress in research designed to meet global environmental challenges, and to engage in the academic life of the School and its affiliates.

The process is open to all CSU Faculty. Although exceptional early career candidates may be considered, academic scientists with fewer than five years of experience since earning a Ph.D. and with more than a year until tenure review are encouraged to apply for future competitions.
