Rams sweep Mountain West weekly awards

MW player of th week

The Rams swept Mountain West Player of the Week in all four major sports after a phenomenal week in which the teams finished with a combined 7-0 record.

It was just the third time in Mountain West history that all four sports received the nod in the same week. The last school to post all four weekly awards was Utah on Nov. 24, 2008.

  • Dee Hart’s six-touchdown performance in a 58-20 rout over New Mexico earned him a win for football.
  • Scoring 38 points, while shooting 6-of-9 from beyond the arc for the week vs. Georgia State and Mercer, Daniel Bejarano captured the win for men’s basketball.
  • In a comeback win over Illinois State, Gritt Ryder scored a game-high 22 points, while sinking a career-high six three-pointers. She shot .750 from beyond the arc.
  • Deedra Foss was honored for volleyball for surpassing her season averages in assists, blocks and kills in victories over San José State and Nevada. Foss also earned national Player of the Week from the AVCA.

Not to be forgotten was a superb finish by the men’s cross country team. The Rams placed 19th at the NCAA championship Saturday, improving eight spots from their previous national ranking. It was the team’s highest finish in 11 years. Swimming & diving also closed out the fall season with several season-best performances at the Georgia Tech Invite.
