Branislav Notaros, (center), has been named a Fellow of the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society.

Branislav Notaros, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and University Distinguished Teaching Scholar, has been named a Fellow of the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society, or ACES. He was honored for his exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions in applied computational electromagnetics.

Being named a fellow is reserved for only a small percentage of individuals who have made an extraordinary impact in their scientific or technical field.

Decorated Educator

Notaros’ recognition builds on a long string of awards for excellence in electromagnetics. In addition to being named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)[1], he received the IEEE Undergraduate Teaching Award and the ECE Distinguished Educator Award from the American Society for Engineering Education. He was also named “Colorado Professor of the Year” in 2015 by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Last year, Colorado State University recognized Notaros as a University Distinguished Teaching Scholar[2], the highest honor available for excellence in teaching. He also received the CSU Board of Governors Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award and the Provost’s N. Preston Davis Award for Instructional Innovation.

As the director of the Electromagnetics Laboratory, Notaros’ research in electromagnetics is fully integrated with his teaching, as well as his service to the University and technical profession. Well-known for his contributions to the theory and practice of electromagnetics education, Notaros is the author of the widely used textbook, Electromagnetics.
