Where do the housing dollars go?

As room and board bills start to appear on student accounts, students and their parents or families may be wondering where the dollars go.

As an auxiliary operation within Colorado State University, Housing & Dining Services does not receive any tuition, student fees, or state funding dollars; all operating expenses must be covered by room and board revenues. The pie chart below outlines how Housing & Dining Services finances student support, safety, and academic success initiatives in addition to providing a room and meal plan as part of the campus living experience. As with any nonprofit organization, revenues and expenses must be balanced each fiscal year.
