The Mike Bobo Era is about to begin at CSU.

Bobo, the former offensive coordinator at Georgia, makes his debut as CSU football coach Saturday when the Rams host Savannah State. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Hughes Stadium as the Rams seek the 500th win in program history.

It’s Ag Day

In addition to Bobo coaching his first game, fans can also celebrate Ag Day, a tradition marking its 35th year. Ag Day celebrates CSU heritage as an agricultural school and the state’s second-largest industry, which brings $12 billion annually to the Colorado economy while providing more than 86,000 jobs.

Get your orange on

Finally, it’s an Orange Out game, with fans encouraged to wear orange to honor CSU’s past when its colors were pumpkin orange and alfalfa green.

The Rams are coming off one of the most successful seasons, which included a 10-3 record, their first Top 25 ranking in 11 years and a trip to the Las Vegas Bowl. Although several key players – including current New Orleans Saints quarterback Garrett Grayson and Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo – graduated off that team, CSU is looking for its third consecutive winning season.

Top returning players include All-American wide receiver Rashard “Hollywood” Higgins, who led the nation in receiving yards (1,750) and touchdowns (17) last year. The junior from Mesquite, Texas, already has been named to several preseason All-American teams and figures to break every CSU career receiving record this season.

The defense will be led by senior linebacker Cory James, who is fifth in career quarterback sacks with 22.
