In memory: Kathy Bartholomew Gibson

Kathy Bartholomew Gibson of Fort Collins passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was born to Alan Bartholomew and Grace Cutler on May 25, 1953, in Akron, Ohio. She spent her early years in Ohio and Florida before moving to Fort Collins, where she met Eddie Gibson. They were married on June 15, 1974. The family moved to Greeley in 1991 where Kathy worked for the Registrar’s Office at University of Northern Colorado for 18 years. She moved back to Fort Collins and worked for the Chemistry Department at CSU until her retirement in 2013.

Kathy is survived by her children; Ben, his wife, Fawn and grandchildren, Ellie and Owen of Springdale, Arkansas, and Rachel Carter, her husband, Josh, and granddaughters, Skye and Azure of Denver; mother, Grace Swanson; and siblings, Susan Sylvester (Del), Christine Bartholomew, Gregory Papadakis, Robin Bartholomew, Paul Stefancic (Nadeem Chohan), Suzi Redlin (Bryan) and dear friend, Bruce Trameri, honorary sister Dana Belinski and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; father, Alan; sister, Cindy and brother, Matt.

Funeral service was held at the LifePointe Church, on Friday, Jan. 8,. The Department of Chemistry will hold a memorial service for colleagues lost this winter, including Kathy, on April 6.
