Christopher John Schmit, of Loveland, entered into eternal peace on Oct. 31. He was born on July 20, 1973, in California to Phil and Linda Schmit. He grew up and graduated Flushing High School, class of 1991.  Upon graduation he stayed in Flushing, Mich., ultimately graduating from Baker College with a bachelors degree in radiology. His career path first took him to Naples, Florida, the Seattle area, and then the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Ft. Collins.

Possessing an environmentally-conscious perspective of the world, he loved the outdoors and all animals, most notably the canine variety. His best friend and ever present companion for many years was his Husky-mix Dexter, whose ashes he asked be scattered with his own.

Chris is survived by his parents Phil and Linda; his brother Anthony; and a multitude of close friends who he has touched over his lifetime.  He will be sorely missed by all.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland. A gathering of  family and friends will follow the service. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to Defenders of Wildlife, wolf and polar bear programs.
