Mapping heaven with Eben Alexander

Eben-AlexanderEben Alexander, author of Proof of Heaven and The Map of Heaven, awoke from a weeklong coma to discover that he had had a profound spiritual experience, and has spent the last few years reconciling it with contemporary physics and cosmology.

Alexander will speak about his experience and his books on Nov. 18, 7-9 p.m., at the Hilton Fort Collins, 425 W. Prospect Road. His talk is part of the Evening with an Author series sponsored by the Friends of the CSU Libraries and the Poudre River Friends of the Library.

Tickets are available at Old Firehouse Books in Old Town Fort Collins, (970) 484-7898. One ticket is $16.99 and includes a paperback copy of The Map of Heaven; two tickets for $21.99 includes a hardcover copy, plus tax.

Alexander, a renowned academic neurosurgeon, spent 54 years honing his scientific worldview. His transcendental Near-Death Experience (NDE), the result of an inexplicable brain infection, changed all of that. He was shocked to find the hyper-reality of that spiritual realm, which many had reported in NDEs.

He has spent the last two and a half years in research and has found that his rich spiritual experience is totally consistent with the leading edges of scientific understanding today. Alexander maintains that by probing deeply into our own consciousness, we transcend the limitations of the human brain, and of the physical-material realm.

The Evening with an Author Series is presented by and sponsored by Friends of the CSU Libraries and the Poudre River Friends of the Library, and supported by the City of Fort Collins Fort FundKUNC Radio and the Hilton Fort Collins. Tickets and book sales are by Old Firehouse Books.
