First came Macklemore, then came Mary

Mary LambertCSU’s RamEvents will host Mary Lambert  at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 in the LSC Theatre.

Lambert is most famous for her contribution to the Macklemore song, “Same Love.” Nominated for a Grammy Award, Lambert performed “Same Love” with Macklemore and Lewis on the MTV Video Music Awards, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Colbert Report, and joined the duo on their fall tour.

As part of the concert, Lambert will share her spoken-word poetry. In 2008, she represented Seattle in the Brave New Voices International Poetry Competition, which was filmed for HBO. She also won Seattle’s Grand Slam Poetry Competition in 2011, and independently released her book of poetry, 500 Tips for Fat Girls. The book is a frank depiction of rape, incest, bi-polarity, body image and homosexuality that has, along with her music, helped establish Lambert as an outspoken gay voice in contemporary culture.

Tickets are still available for the show, and can be purchased online. While student tickets are free, community tickets are $12.
