CSU rocks the Colorado Combined Campaign

[1]Take a bow, CSU employees. Once again, your generosity is making a significant difference in the lives of Coloradans.

CSU, for the second year in a row, blew away the field in donations to the annual Colorado Combined Campaign[2]. Employees on campus and across the state (extension staff, for example) donated $129,066 during the annual December campaign.

CSU’s total exceeded the runner-up state agency – the CU Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus – by was more than $35,000. In all, 53 state agencies participated in the campaign, including 26 higher education entries. The campaign raised $928,000 statewide.

“This is just one more, great example of how much Colorado State employees give back to the state and the communities of Colorado,” CSU President Tony Frank said. “Programs like the Colorado Combined Campaign, Cans Around the Oval and CSUnity just showcase the spirit of service and civic responsibility that is such a hallmark of our campus community.”

Unique campaign

The Colorado Combined Campaign is unique in that it allows state employees to support their favorite charities via payroll deduction (checks, cash and credit cards are also accepted). CSU employees are encouraged to donate to outside agencies as they can support CSU programs through payroll deduction at any time.

CSU employees support area charities like United Way of Larimer County, Habitat for Humanity, Neighbor to Neighbor, the Food Bank for Larimer County, Crossroads Safehouse, Poudre River Library Trust, the Nature Conservancy, Elderhaus, the Larimer Humane Society, Animal House Rescue, and many more. Some choose to support other charitable agencies around the state.

Employees make it happen

The campus campaign is sponsored by the Office of the President and co-chaired by Cara Neth, Katie Esquivel and Nik Olsen.

“CSU employees tend to be generous and community-oriented, so our goal in running the campaign is just to make it as convenient as possible for people to give,” said Neth, director of administrative communications in the President’s Office. “That happens largely through the leadership of Katie Esquivel in our office. Katie coordinates with the state campaign and our payroll office, she manages all the mailings, she tracks and processes donations, she answers questions from across campus, and she keeps the entire CSU campaign on track. Her commitment and hard work are really what make our campaign run so seamlessly and successfully.”
