Cooler than ever: School is Cool time is here

School is Cool 2017 – the coolest thing you can do to help area school kids – is up and running for the 26th year.

The uniquely CSU program, which provides high-quality backpacks stuffed with grade-specific supplies to less-fortunate Poudre School District students, was launched in 1992. It is managed and organized by CSU employees, who also provide much of the funding and most of the volunteer hours required to complete the process of filling and distributing the backpacks.

Huge impact on local students

Since its inception, more than 40,000 supply-filled backpacks have been distributed to 47 PSD schools. The schools then discreetly distribute the backpacks to students in need.

You can help the cause by making a donation or by signing up for a volunteer shift.

Donate, volunteer, or both

A donation of $25 sponsors one backpack – a remarkable savings as backpacks and supplies would cost more than $100 in standard retail pricing. You can donate online, by check or by credit/debit card. Donations are accepted year-round but to be included in the 2017-18 total they must be received by Aug. 4.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including organizing, sorting, assembling or delivering backpacks. You can sign up here, and more information is available at schooliscool.colostate.edu.
