Confucius Institute hosts talks on Chinese design and architecture

On Monday, Nov. 28, the Confucius Institute at Colorado State University will host a two-part speaker series focused on Chinese minority culture design and traditional ancient architecture. The talks, presented in conjunction with Hunan University in China, will feature four visiting professors from Hunan – Su Liu, Renke He, Tie Ji, and Yuwei Li.

Both talks will take place at the Morgan Library Event Hall, beginning at noon.

Ethnic Design
noon – 1 p.m.

A presentation on ethnic designs in China given by participants of the “New Channel” project, which brought cross-disciplinary design and social innovation to minority nationality regions in China.

Chinese Architecture
1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

A presentation on China’s traditional architectural arts, focusing on layout, form, material, structure, ornamentation and regional features.
