Career Management Center releases weekly podcast

The Career Management Center in the College of Business[1] at Colorado State University released its second podcast on Monday. The podcast is called “Career Cairns: BizRam Intern Stories.” The clip discusses student experiences with internships.

Lorie Humphrey, Jason Radman and Amanda White co-host and co-produce the show. The idea started in the Career Management Center when the trio began discussing how much they enjoy podcasts. They mulled the idea of a COB podcast for about a year.

“We are all big fans of podcasts, and we work with students,” Radman said. “We thought about the idea of having students share their stories of past internships and maybe inspire their classmates.”

Valuable career resources

The group works collectively to offer undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni valuable career resources. Some support options include resume building, job and internship opportunities, and career fairs and events. They hope that this is the first of many podcasts that could be a resource for students to learn about all aspects of internships from other students’ experiences.

“Most students experience difficulty in finding internships,” said White. “When we talk with students, we talk about that process as well as their experience and how they learn what is a good fit and what is not.”

Sharing student experiences

Students are more than welcome to reach out about making an appearance on the podcast. The trio also hopes to develop a future series featuring employers and alumni.

Humphrey, Radman and White expressed gratitude for the guests they have had on the show thus far and the Creative Services Unit at the COB.

“We have a tremendous amount of fun doing this,” said Humphrey. “We are so grateful for the support system within the College of Business and hope that these podcasts guide students in their steps toward the future.”
