“While pulling into the parking lot that morning, I had a bolt fall out of the shift linkage on my truck,” he said. “I was worried about it because it would have been very hard, if not impossible, to drive the truck in this condition. I was telling Bruce about it, and when he got off work, he asked if he could look at it. So I gave him the keys and off he went. Long story short, he came back a little while later, and with a smile on his face he said, ‘It’s fixed.’ He showed me what the problem was and we went for a short drive. It worked perfectly. All done in very cold weather, I will add.”

Cameron added, “This is another example of how kind, considerate and helpful the custodial group has always been all the four years I’ve been here. I’ve said this before, but without the hard work of the custodial group, we would never be able to do our jobs here at the Engineering Research Center, and Bruce’s kindness is a reflection of the entire group”

Mortimore has been with Colorado State University for five and a half years. He is a Custodian I at the Foothills Campus. He said he applied for the job because he wanted to work for CSU and he appreciates the retirement plan CSU offers state classified employees. Mortimore likes to practice locksmithing in his spare time.

Mortimore is a native of Fort Collins. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he was part of the security police. He was stationed at Warren Air Force base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mortimore has been married for 33 years and likes to help other people when he can. He would like to stay with CSU until he retires and possibly try something different during his career here.
