Bringing ideas to life: Free 3D printing classes

3D Banner Half 4-6Free 3D printing introduction courses are taking place Nov. 4 and Nov. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Morgan Library Event Hall. Members of the Colorado State University community will become familiar with equipment, software, and safety information about the on-campus 3D printers through these classes. Registration is strongly preferred.

These basics and safety courses are covering all the 3D printing bases. Technology is provided through RamTech, CSU’s one-stop-shop for all computing, software, and electronic needs at educational prices.

A LulzBot Mini 3D printer can be found in the Morgan Library, while various others can be found in the Engineering Building Idea-2-Product lab. Printing in the library is free as long as users provide their own materials, which are available at RamTech or online. Printing in the Idea-2-Product lab requires an additional service fee. Anyone can buy the LulzBot 3D printers at RamTech at educational pricing.

Online, users can check availability and make reservations for the 3D printers in the Idea-2-Product lab.

Anything from small mechanical parts to full-scale scanned objects can be created using 3D printing technology.  Those unfamiliar with the 3D printing equipment and processes will leave knowing how to bring their ideas to life using the 3D printers in the Morgan Library.
