2016 Lagoon Summer Concert Series to kick off June 15

The Lagoon Summer Concert Series, a free eight-week concert series, is set to kick off June 15 at 6 p.m. on the west lawn of Colorado State University’s Lory Student Center.

The event has been enjoyed by the northern Colorado community for nearly 20 years and has brought in some of the most talented bands from across the state.

The series, produced by Mantooth Marketing Company, will continue every Wednesday evening through Aug. 3 and will feature a variety of musical styles, including folk, swing, blues, rock and more. The concerts are open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and picnic gear to enjoy eight weeks of free music. Local food trucks will also be onsite at each concert.

Lagoon3Residents should be cautioned that there is no parking allowed on Plum Drive, but parking is available in the Lory Student Center and Moby Arena lots.

June 15: The Wendy Woo Band

June 22: Bonnie and the Clydes

Led by frontwoman Bonnie Sims, this country band boasts dynamic harmonies, guitar solos and unique vocals. They were awarded “Best Country Band” for 2013 and 2014 by the Denver Westword’s Yearly “Best Of” poll and have released three studio albums. Learn more at www.bonnieandherclydes.com/.

June 29: Maxwell Mud

July 6: Eufórquestra

Eufórquestra describes themselves as energy and rhythm personified. They’ve performed more than 1,000 shows of funk and groove and are masters at blending musical roots across nearly every genre. July 13: The Burroughs

July 20: Winchester Holiday

July 27: Union Gray

Lagoon10August 3: Danielle Ate the Sandwich

Danielle Ate the Sandwich is the stage name of Fort Collins-based indie-singer-songwriter Danielle Anderson. Her music career was jumpstarted by the popularity of her simple YouTube videos, showing off her ukulele, sweet vocals, thoughtful lyrics and unique personality. August 10: CSU Community Open House and Ice Cream Social

On the Wednesday following the last concert will be CSU’s Open House and Ice Cream Social, featuring music, games and more. The fun starts at 5 p.m. and will last into the evening.

Little Kids Rock returns

Back for another year as the opening act for each concert is Little Kids Rock. Little Kids Rock is a group of modern band performers from schools across the Poudre School District. Little Kids Rock, a national nonprofit, has been helping kids across the country find their inner music makers since 2002 and making big waves in the modern band movement in schools.
